From May 29 until June 18 all the paintings on wooden panel that Elisa Pesapane made in preparation for her multidisciplinary project with Arnon Grunberg ‘Love after Auschwitz’ will be on display at INKT Gallery Delft.
‘Love after Auschwitz’ is an autonomous artwork, alternative biography, gesamtkunstwerk, triptych, installation & prose – inspired by Sara Rothés’ doll’s house, collection Frans Hals Museum.
‘The afterparty’ consists of almost 30 paintings, a miniature of the triptych and installation and the central element of the project, the Märklintrain, will be chugging around the gallery.
A limited number of copies of the book ‘Love after Auschwitz. A journey with the devoured and the devourers of Arnon Grunberg’ (Liefde na Auschwitz. Op reis met de verslinders en verslondenen van Arnon Grunberg) signed by both Grunberg (who wrote the epilogue of the book) will be available in the gallery.
The exhibition is celebrated with a special bibliophile publication: 50 numbered and signed copies of ‘Poëzie na Auschwitz'(Poetry after Auschwitz) a lengthy poem by Johannes van der Sluis (poet, longtime secretary of Arnon Grunberg and one of the models for ‘Love after Auschwitz’) and Elisa Pesapane. Her monumental drawing ‘Nimf in roze badjas'(Nymph in pink bathrobe), graces the cover.
Eva van Heijningen made ‘Liefde na Auschwitz, the movie’. A short documentary on the project that shows interviews and speeches by Pesapane, Grunberg and their models / characters. But also documents the creation of project, the presentation of ‘Liefde na Auschwitz’ at the Literatuurmuseum (Museum of Literature) and the afterparty with all the models in The Hague on october 7, 2021.
